Dave Nielsen represents District 1 for the Nebraska Corn Board and has been serving as a director for the board since 2007. He has been farming since 1983 and is a fourth generation farmer. His family farm is located just north of Lincoln and consists of 2,000 acres of dryland corn and soybeans. Dave’s farm operation has a high focus on conservation and practices no-till production while using bio-solids for fertilizer.
Dave is a 1986 graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and majored in the college of agricultural sciences and natural resources. Since graduating from the University, Dave has been active in the agricultural industry and his local community by serving on boards and committees. He has been very active with the Nebraska Farm Bureau and the Lancaster Farm Bureau associations. He has served on the Young Farmers and Ranchers committee and has also served on the state legislative and policy development committee. Dave was part of the Nebraska LEAD XXI (21) program and is now an alumnus. Dave has also been part of the Ag Builders of Nebraska (ABN) group and has also served on the Biotech and trade task force for the National Corn Growers Association. While Dave has been very active in the agriculture industry, he has also been very active in his local community. Dave has served on the Danish Cemetery Board of trustees and was also a councilman/chairman for the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Dave’s family includes his wife Vicki who is a manager at the Lincoln Benefit Life (Allstate) and is originally from Wilbur, Nebraska. They have two daughters, Taylor and Jordan, and one son, Connor.
